Each of the landscapes where the Open Space Institute works has its own story, with histories that intersect different geologies, habitats and human lives. Now, OSI has unveiled a multimedia Story Map, harnessing the power of maps, narratives and video to capture some of these histories on one of our treasured landscapes: the Southern Cumberland Plateau.

Story Map: Saving the Southern Cumberlands (2018)

A flat-topped mountain that once was the bed of an ancient ocean floor, the Southern Cumberland Plateau today supports some of the most geologically unique habitat in North America — yet only 10 percent of the Plateau is protected. OSI, working through its Resilient Landscapes Fund, Southern Cumberland Plateau Land Protection Fund and with partners, is busy saving the land, before it is too late.
The Story Map is best viewed with high-speed Internet.
